Woodland midfielder, Joe Wainwright, re-signs with Kansas City Comets

The Kansas City Comets released a statement on Monday, November 17th, that they were extending the contract of Woodland FC midfielder Joe Wainwright to their roster for the 2025-2026 season.

Wainwright scored 3 goals for the Comets last season in his rookie campaign before making his Woodland debut in the US Open Cup qualifying this season against BOHFS St. Louis. Wainwright scored the Royals' only goal in the 3-1 loss, and was a great locker room and field presence at every training and match.

"We're proud of Joe," said Ross Harris, Owner of Woodland Football Club. "Joe is an excellent talent, and the Comets saw the same things we did in him--a quality young man with loads of ability. We wish him the best, and hope to see him in person at Cable Dahmer arena this season."
